:: 2.19.08 - My Son Ben Vail had an issue and was in the Hospital for a few days last week. Very lame, but he is doing ok now. The CD is hung up on cash flow. Any ideas appreciated.

Christmas Services have started at Saddleback and the schedule is pretty non-stop for the next few days - then people are going out of town and it looks like January 4th is the next real day to get people together and finish this track. :: 10.29.07 - CD Update - I finished the strings and woodwind arranging and tracking on the Stevie Wonder tune and it sounds great! We had David Pack from Ambrosia play on Guitar yesterday, on a song he wrote, Biggest Part of Me. That was really cool! Working on getting this done so drop in for updates or hit the Blog. :: 10.19.07 - CD UPDATE - Tony and I are working hard! We have almost half the CD totally done now, and only parts to finish on the rest. The originals have the most left to do and Tony and I will meet Saturday to work more on them. Really getting excited here! I have been working on a woodwind quintet arrangement with strings and hope to have it done and tracks by tomorrow night. Sax stuff sounds great... Stay tunes for more.

:: 9.25.07 - We are working on the new CD - Smooth Jazz Classics! Tony Guerrero and I have most the CD tracks sequenced and have started adding live players. Guitar tracked yesterday and we are moving forward for a late 2007 release! Stay tuned for the latest!

:: August 10 - Hey Webland! Been busy working on the NEW Shannon Kennedy CD - songs from the 70's - "Never My Love". We are in the final stages, working on edits and rough mix with a deadline of Sunday to hand it off to the guy mixing and mastering the CD. Stay tuned for a release date and online availability. :: MAY 30th, 2007 Update - NEW CDs are the news. I have been working on the new Smooth Jazz Classics CD with Tony Guerrero and we are past the half way point. Tony just sent another file to start recording on! This is #7 and marks some serious progress on this CD! Bobby and I are still working toward a 2007 release of the NEW Hymns CD. Also in the news - Shannon Kennedy is working on a new 70's CD - her third CD. I have been writing horn arrangements and will be playing on this CD to be released later this year. Lastly, David Pack called (lead singer from Ambrosia) and I will be re-recording all the Sax solos on the old Ambrosia hits tomorrow for release later this year! :: MAY 2007 Update. Life is busy as always. The BLOG has the day to day - Sax Players Blog. 2 CDs still in process - 1 Gospel Hymns done Smooth Jazz - 1 Classic Instrumental Hits done with that R&B bump. Wish I had more to say but they are getting done. Gigs are updated on the Schedule Page, Old web sites need some love and the new sites are going up slow. :: Easter was huge at Saddleback again this year with nearly 40 thousand in attendance over 13 services. And Yes - I was there for all of them! The blog has the details but since Easter it has been reheasals, gigs and recording for the new CDs. Blessings All!

:: April Update - I have been soooo buried. Easter is this week at Saddleback Church - Drop in, I'll be there all 12 services starting Thursday Night thru Easter Day. Other than that - a new Sun/Mon gig weekly, 2 new CDs in the works, a new band, a few travel dates, web sites growing, and the Greg Vail Band is still booking. Add a session here and there, web clients, kids and you have a sleep deprived picture. Back at it......

Many have asked what's going on. Overall - pretty bad news - Dave Guardala took money for saxophones never delivered. It was a lot of money and been really complicated. See above link for the details. I have hopes of work getting more musical again soon and will have music related news soon. - Greg

:: 1.30.07 - NAMM has come and gone for 2007 and it was a great show again this year. I will get to the NAMM 2007 page with comments in the next day or so. I have been ill so things are moving slow right now. Stay tuned for updates.

:: 10.3.06 - WOW! I have been sooo busy and could not believe it has been not weeks, but months since I posted here. The site update got pushed out AGAIN. Shannon Kennedy has a new CD and I am co-producing it and have been very busy trying to get it finished. The CD features 11 of Shannon's compositions and 1 cover song. This has been a major project since it has involved song writing, arranging, producing, editing, coaching, and some performance on electronic winds and assorted woodwinds. I wish I could say it is almost done but a more honest guess would be it is more than half done. My Gospel Hymns CD is on hold until this is out the door and on the shelves. I do have a new site online for Christmas - Christmas Sax is a dedicated Christmas Music site that features my Christmas CDs with Reviews, Testimonials and Sound Clips. It also has 2 pages of Jazz Christmas CDs with links to either CD Baby or Amazon to purchase the CDs and the list was researched for a few days to cover all the great, known and available Jazz Christmas CDs I could find. I still need to go thru it and get my orders in becasue I found many CDs I need to get for my CD Collection too. Looks like another new site is missing from the NEWs below. Church Saxophone .com went online 2 months ago and is a feeler site for a larger and more comprehensive site to go online in the near future. Response has been great and it is a 'must do' site for late 06/07. I have been getting to email from the other sites, and will be getting a more detailed update on SaxPlayersBlog.com today or tommorow also. For now; enjoy the change of season and take a listen to some soundclips , and get those Christmas CD orders in early so you can enjoy some great new Christmas music thru the holiday season, and before Christmas has come and gone yet again. :: 8.5.05 - Much is going on at Greg Vail Music as always! On the web, GregVail.com is back in redesign land with the help of my web designer friend, Shannon Kennedy so the site will actually get done now. No date on completion at this time but with 2 of us working on it, it will be done soon. Alto Sax US has been repaired. A good look thru other browsers showed many viewing errors in Safari and FireFox so a new 4 browser approach was used and it looks great on all browsers now. Completion of the rest of the site pages is coming soon too. Other sites will be addressed as time allows, but they all need a little tweaking. The latest NEW site online is Church Saxophone. This site is a bit of a market test to see where the larger site should go. Check it out and email me your thoughts. Still dealing with a major computer crash and lost data is making large projects move slow. Lost articles for Sax Reviews and Saxophone US are contributing to a late a needed update for both sites, but this too will be addressed. The new CD is 4 songs done and needs to become a focus again this month so we can get it out. That's it for now; at least what I can tell you. Blessings to all, Greg

:: 7.17.06 - Last week Greg was on America's Got Talent with an artist that did not advance to the finals but made the semi-final show. It was a 3 day lesson in waiting around, but the footage was pretty cool and that show has been ranked #1 in America on TV. Still working on the new CD with Bobby Cruz, summer gigs and the usual summer crazies accounts for the past month or so. A few updates here but mostly maintenance. More when there is more. Thanks...

:: 6.17.06 - The Sax By Moonlight/Sax By Candlelight Sound Clips were never on our servers. Back in the day, I had no idea how to get these things uploaded and working so I listed links to other stores online and never got them done right until now. These CDs are not easy to find and we don't carry them any longer but the music is beautiful and I updated these classics with new clips that will work all the time now. :: 5.22.06 - Things have been going great in Greg Vail Music land. The new Gospel Truth Revisited CD is in manufacturing and will begin shipping June 1st. You can order now on the CD Catalog and your CD will ship the day after we get the shippment from the plant. The Yamaha show last Thursday was amazing with Greg Vail playing with many awesome artists, the coolest being Micheal McDonald. The Saddleback Church Conference ran all last week and highlights included a great jam with David Pack from Ambrosia Thursday. Coming next week is the KSBR Bash 2006 and tickets may still be available at KSBR.net. MAY has been an all star month. More from Greg Vail can be found at Sax Players Blog Online.

I have been Missing Online. What have I been doing?? The Blog is a good place to check, but a few words here and now. The website update hit issues and was put on a back burner. The new Hymns CD was moving forward and I dropped it for now to finish a re-do CD for the Gospel World.
The Gospel Truth CD was reworked this week. I pulled Europa from the new track list and added 3 new Gospel tracks - New Music by Greg!! Yeah!! The NEW CD is called The Gospel Truth Revisited. Pages are now going up and the whole Gospel CD area is being reworked to explain and make sense for future Gospel CDs now in the works. You can see the pages under construction here - Gospel CDs Central - and The NEW Gospel Truth Revisited Home page. You can at least see the new cover and read a bit about the new tracks.
What else??? A new Live DVD was recorded last week with Gospel Artist Charles Billingsley for DVD Sale, TBN and possibly PBS Specials. Easter was huge this year at Saddleback with a new Campus starting Easter Morning in San Clemente CA. Razzor Sharp began rehearsals and begins recording an early release Rock song next week. The new CD will be in stock within the next 10 days and the website is being updated as we speak. My second MAJOR Concert with Yamaha is a week away and lips are sealed until it is over because we have some huge names again. Conferences at Saddleback are next week and the end of June are the 2 biggies. I'll stop now... SOOOOO Much going on. Peace Out for now -----

:: FYI - It is almost 1AM as I write this. At 1:02 and 3 seconds the atomic clock will read - 01:02:03 - 04/05/06. What am I doing during this strange little event. The same thing I always do, email and web updates. Enjoy the site. :: 3.29.06 - UPDATE - The Big News is a NEW REAL BLOG. I call this little update thing a blog but a real blog allows for feedback, questions, post space, forwarding and rating posts. Much more interactive, interesting and fun for all. It went online last night!! Easy to remember - SaxPlayersBlog.com. Site Design was given a week off while I got the first tune on the new Contemporary Hymns CD finished. Bobby Cruz is almost done with his first track too and then we have to do it again a few times to get 10-12 tracks done. Release date is June 1st if all goes as planned.
The Gospel Truth: reVisited - Release set for May 11, 2006. Contemporary Hymns, Volume 1 is set for June 1st and Contemporary Hymns, Volume 1 Tracks should be out by July 15th, 2006; Music in Concert C, Bb and Eb with a Track minus Sax CD. Pretty Cool Hungh??

:: 2.20.06 - UPDATE - Bobby Cruz and Greg Vail have started the Contemporary Hymns CD. I am planning on a June 1st release. This new CD will feature 12 classic hymns recorded in the Smooth Jazz style and we are about 2 tunes in so we have a lot of work to do here. If you look down this update list, many things were on the schedule, than pulled, and now back on. I am going to finish the Gospel Truth: reVisited which will have 3 new tracks and will be marketed as a Church Resource - to be released May 1st, 2006. The art work is in process with the cover done and website design done for a dedicated site for this new CD thanks to Shannon Kennedy.
